Colette Cameron has been teaching for over 20 years and is now teaching online
What I have learnt over the years is that we must approach the creative process with a sense of freedom; freedom to explore, to make mistakes, to play, to experiment and let the work evolve. Once you make friends with the idea that you will make mistakes you stop holding yourself back. In fact making and resolving mistakes can lead you to something more interesting
so how can we bring a sense of wonder and curiosity towards the world and our work, and ourselves?
I paint in watercolour (with ink, oil pastel and wax resist) Behind the quick expressive marks is much observation and creative focus. Keeping things spontaneous helps me find my authentic voice I’m inspired by traditional Japanese and Chinese ink painting, and my relationship with the natural world informs my work
